MEET YOUR INSTRUCTOR:

Lucie Poehere Taie has spent nearly her entire life immersed in the music, dance, artistry, and traditions of Tahiti. She began performing at the Polynesian Cultural Center at just seven years old and has been part of the PCC community since 1996, building a career that spans cultural performance, dance, pageantry, fashion, jewelry, and design.

An internationally recognized and overall award-winning ʻOri Tahiti dancer, Lucie has performed on stages throughout her life, she took on the lead role of Lani in the Polynesian Cultural Center’s evening production, Hā: Breath of Life.

Beyond the stage, Lucie has also participated in pageantry in both Tahiti and Hawaiʻi. She earned the title of Miss Tahiti 2010 during the pageant’s 50th anniversary year and went on to compete for the title of Miss France. She later earned the title of Miss Earth Hawaiʻi 2013, competing with an environmental advocacy platform.

Today, Lucie continues to share her creativity and Tahitian heritage through her work with Tahitian Treasures at the Polynesian Cultural Center and as the creator of Pairu Designs, featuring Tahitian-style dresses, jewelry, and accessories inspired by the beauty and artistry of Tahiti.

For her Tahitian Pātiki Shell Earring & Bracelet Workshop at ʻIke Collective, Lucie brings her experience directly to participants, providing authentic Pātiki shells from Tahiti that she has personally hand-selected and hand-drilled for the workshop. Participants will have the opportunity to learn from Lucie while creating their own Tahitian-inspired earrings and bracelet to take home.

Her lifelong connection to Tahitian culture, performance, and creative expression makes this workshop an opportunity to create alongside an artist whose work is deeply connected to the culture and community that continue to inspire her.
